One of the biggest legends Mahesh Bhatt, is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter. He was born on 20 September 1949, in Bombay. He has done his schooling from Don Bosco High School, Matunga.

Mahesh Bhatt was born to Hindu father Nanabhai Bhatt and Muslim mother Shirin Mohammad Ali. He is one among nine siblings and film producer Mukesh Bhatt is his brother.

During his college days Mahesh has fallen in love with Lorraine Bright aka Kiran. His romance with her was the inspiration for his film Aashiqui. The couple has two children Rahul Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt. But soon the duo has broken up due to the difficulties of Mahesh’s early career. Later he has fallen for actress Soni Razdan and married her. They have two children Shaheen Bhatt and Alia Bhatt. Mahesh Bhatt has converted to Islam so that he could have 2 wifes but the couple maintain that they are atheists.

Mahesh Bhatt has started his career at the age of 26 as a debutant director for the film Manzilein Aur Bhi Hain. His first major hit came with Arth, when he turned to his personal life for inspiration. He has also entered the world of theatre and has even produced the plays.

Bhatt is co-owner of film production house, Vishesh Films, with Mukesh Bhatt. He is a member of the advisory board of U.S. nonprofit TeachAIDS. He also writes several books and his latest one is “A Taste of Life: The Last Days of U.G. Krishnamurti”, which was published in 2009. Till date Mahesh was behind the camera and now he is all set to come forward in a different role as a Buddhist monk.
